Features

Everything that slows your Mac down. Gone.

Four places where space and memory disappear on a Mac — each with its own page, and nothing removed until you say so.

System Junk

Gigabytes of junk, found in seconds.

App caches, logs and crash reports, Xcode DerivedData, simulator caches, SwiftUI previews, and npm, Bun, Cargo and Metro caches — measured and sorted by size.

  • Only what's safe is pre-selected
  • macOS system caches stay unchecked
  • Expand any category to see exactly what goes

node_modules

Every forgotten node_modules, in one list.

Point it at your projects folder. Each project's dependencies show up with their size and when you last touched the code.

  • One click selects everything idle for 30+ days
  • Only real projects — folders with a package.json
  • npm install brings any of them back

Large Files

Find the files quietly eating your disk.

Old installers, screen recordings and disk images — the biggest files in your home folder, biggest first.

  • Pick 100 MB, 500 MB, 1 GB or 5 GB and up
  • Removing moves files to the Trash
  • Open or reveal anything in Finder

Memory

See what's eating your RAM. Quit it.

An Activity Monitor-style breakdown with live memory pressure, every app's real footprint including its helper processes, and the dev servers you forgot were running.

  • Quit politely, or force quit when stuck
  • Stop stray node, bun and python servers
  • Free Up RAM clears inactive memory

Real numbers

One click. 14 GB back.

Our own 245 GB MacBook, first run with the default selection: SwiftUI preview data, npm cache, logs and stale app-update downloads cleared. macOS's own caches were left alone. Your numbers will differ.

Safe by default

Cleaning that never surprises you.

Every scan shows exactly what will go before anything does. And a few rules are baked in so mistakes can't happen.

Deletes only inside junk folders

Caches, logs, build folders and node_modules — anything outside those known locations is refused, even if something asks.

Apple's caches stay unchecked

macOS system caches, Xcode Archives and device symbols are never pre-selected.

Big files go to the Trash

Large files are moved to the Trash, never erased, so you can put them back.

Quit, not kill

Apps get a normal Quit, so anything unsaved asks you first. Force quit is always a separate step.

Nothing leaves your Mac

No account, no analytics, no network calls. It's a 2 MB native app and that's it.

Your password stays with macOS

Free Up RAM uses macOS's own admin prompt for the purge command. cleanNudge never sees your password.

Install

Up and running in a minute.

1

Download & unzip

Grab cleanNudge.zip (2 MB) and drag cleanNudge into Applications.

2

Allow it once

It isn't notarized by Apple yet. The first time, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

3

Scan & clean

It scans as soon as it opens. Check what's selected and click Clean.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Yes — caches are files apps keep to load faster, and they rebuild them when needed. cleanNudge only deletes inside known cache, log and build folders, leaves macOS's own caches unchecked, and shows every item before you clean.
